Andy Sheppard, who was traveling to Positano, Italy, with his partner, described the situation as “complete and utter chaos,” highlighting the absence of guidance and support from airport personnel.
“We then had to wait four hours for our bags to be returned—I don’t think they even made it on the plane,” Sheppard remarked, underscoring the disruption to their travel plans and the ensuing financial ramifications.
The power outage, affecting critical airport systems such as check-in, security, and baggage handling, led to widespread inconvenience for passengers. Despite efforts to restore power in the morning, the resulting disruptions persisted for several hours, exacerbating the situation.
