A Jet2.com Boeing 737-800, registration G-JZBX, was rising off of Leeds’ runway 32 on flight LS-249 from Leeds, EN (UK), to Fuerteventura, CI (Spain), when the crew halted the ascent at FL070 owing to an inability to properly retract the flaps. The aircraft entered a hold at FL090 to complete the necessary checklists, declared an emergency, and elected to divert to East Midlands, EN (UK), where it landed safely on runway 27 approximately one hour after takeoff.
A substitute. The Boeing 737-800 registration G-DRTG resumed the flight and arrived in Fuerteventura after a two-hour delay.
The incident aircraft is still on the ground in the East Midlands, approximately 9 hours after landing.
